Albany Pub Residency

14th – 16th October 2011

As part of the Made in Roath festival in Cardiff Elbow Room commissioned artist Adeola Dewis to be artist-in-residence at the Albany Pub on Donald Street for the duration of the festival.

Adeola is a visual artist from Trinidad, who is also currently pursuing PhD Research at Cardiff University focussing on carnival performance and the translation of its effects for art making and art presentation within the UK for displaced peoples.

She has a strong interest in modes of transformation and ways of re-presenting self, re-examining ways of dealing with a sense of place and belonging through practice. Mark-making (including text) as a form of visibility has always been an important aspect of her work captured through the imageries and stories of her writings, paintings, drawings and performance works.
